Today's generation might say that what we experienced back then was abusive or brutal. And honestly, HAHAHA it may have been embarrassing, painful, and hurtful. We felt shy to face our classmates, and the embarrassment sometimes stayed with us even after the class ended.
But despite all of that, we still picked up and returned the things our teacher threw at us😅sometimes while bowing, not because we were afraid or ashamed, but because we knew we had made a mistake and we still respected our teacher.
After class, the embarrassment would linger. Yet somehow, we would still laugh about what happened. We might curse at our teacher in our minds or mutter a few words out of frustration, but the thought of revenge, hurting them, or doing anything worse never crossed our hearts.
When we got home, most of us simply stayed quiet. Not because our parents wouldn't believe us, but because we knew they would probably ask, "What did you do for your teacher to get angry?" They trusted that our teachers were not angry without reason. They believed that, in their own way, our teachers were disciplining us because we had done something wrong.
Times have changed, and I understand that some forms of discipline from the past should not be repeated today. But I also cannot say that I regret everything I experienced, from strict teachers to the so-called "terror teachers."
Those experiences taught us lessons, shaped our character, and gave us stories we can now look back on and laugh about. We survived the embarrassment, learned from our mistakes, and somehow became better because of the lessons we carried with us.
