I was an instructional coach for 5 years. I loved it but decided to leave due to some misaligned values with my leadership. I did not “want” to go back in the classroom necessarily because I also had just finished my admin program and I was hoping to find an AP role or even another coaching role, but when I ended up back in the classroom last year, really reminded me of how much peace I enjoyed it as a classroom teacher. Being able to go in my room and close my door, something I really couldn’t do as a coach, without coming off as rude or unapproachable has been one of the best things for me. Next year will be year 17, I can teach ELA in my sleep and I know what I’m doing instructionally, I’m about to start my doctorate in August and I still want to pursue my admin desires, but there is nothing like having peace and been able to go in my room and spend the day with a little broke besties 😂😂

When we hear things in the hallway, I say “we worry about our four walls.” It has gotten to the point that when I or others say anything about somewhere else, my students repeat “focus on our four walls!”
