Cake of your dreams😉 Brown Butter Apple Crumble Cake 🩵INGREDIENTS Brown Butter Cake: • 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour • 2 tsp (8g) baking powder • 1/2 tsp (3g) baking soda • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt • 1/2 cup (113g) salted butter • 3/4 cup (165g) granulated sugar • 1/4 cup (60g) brown sugar • 1/2 cup (120g)sour cream, room temp • 2 eggs, room temp • 2 tbsp (30ml) olive oil • 2 tbsp (30ml) milk, room temp • 2 tsp (8g) vanilla extract Apple Filling: • 4 tbsp (58g) salted butter • 4 medium apples peeled & thin sliced • 1/2 cup (120g) light brown sugar • 4 tbsp (80g) maple syrup • 2 tsp (4g) cinnamon • 1/2 tsp salt • 1 tbsp (8g) cornstarch + 2 tbsp (30ml) water (slurry) • 1 1/2 tsp (4g) vanilla extract Crumble Topping: • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour • 3/4 cup (180g) brown sugar • 2 tsp (4g) cinnamon • 1/2 tsp salt • 6 tbsp (90g) salted butter, room temp Salted Caramel: I just bought an organic one at sprouts :) nobody got timeee for dat. 🩵INSTRUCTIONS 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9” springform pan with butter, then set aside. 2. To brown the butter, add butter to a saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously for 5–8 minutes as it melts, foams, and the milk solids brown. When it reaches a deep golden amber color and smells nutty, remove from heat and pour into a seperate bowl. Cool 15–20 minutes. 3. In a large saucepan over medium heat, add butter, sliced apples, brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, apple pie spice, and salt. Cook 10 minutes until apples soften. Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl to make the slurry. Add slurry to apples and cook 1–2 more minutes until thickened. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and cool completely. 4. For crumble topping: Combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and softened butter. Mix with fork or hands until crumbly. Refrigerate until ready to use. 5. The cake batter: In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. In the bowl with cooled brown butter, whisk in granulated sugar, brown sugar, sour cream, eggs, olive oil, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Add dry ingredients to wet and fold until just combined (some lumps are ok just do not overmix) 6. Assemble: Spread all the cake batter into the prepared pan. • Spoon apple filling evenly over the batter. • Sprinkle crumb topping over the apples in an even layer. • Bake 45–50 minutes at 350°F, until crumble is golden and a toothpick comes out clean or with moist crumbs. Let cool 15–20 minutes before serving. 7. Slice cake warm, add ice cream, drizzle salted caramel on top, and enjoy! @From Our Place pans were used to cook apples and I give it 10/10!
