I made my dad drive me to his house, sat by the window and talked to him while my dad talked to his mom. His mom moved him away, he got help. We saw each other one other time at a mall. He has a family now, one kid, one wife. We haven’t spoken in 14 years. I’m so happy for him.

My teen got one of those messages from a friend and came sprinting to my room to have me call every adult in her house. They're still friends, though it was rocky at first, and the family adores her. I raised the kind of friend I wish I would have had at her age.

I called the police and not only was she mad at me but when I was finally able to reach her parents who she had refused to tell, they were mad at me for having called the police. I felt like saying "well but how come she confided in me and not you guys?" 10 years later, and she just graduated from top-tier law school.

I called her father. We were 15. She never spoke to me again. I saw her recently while out shopping. She has a wife and two children. We had a chance to talk a bit, and she seemed grateful.

I had my mom call her mom, because they were also really good friends. Our friendship wasn’t the same after that while in high school. But 13 years later we just spent the afternoon together with our kids. Totally worth it💜

My son told me and we went to their house because I didn't have their number yet - it was a newer friend from school. His other friend in the group chat also showed up. Kiddo is alive and well. And my kid and that kid and the other friend all learned how to show up for each other and that their parents would show up for them and their friends. Powerful moment. very proud. ALWAYS CALL OR SHOW UP. Always!
