They couldn't do the same because the kryptonians are now violent evil imperialist Viltrumites in this take on the DCU. That would be like Anissa or Thragg teaching someone how to learn forgiveness and care for your fellow people. So the writers are in a very weird place that they weren't able to get out of in this script.

People are saying don’t compare to the comic, but this is was they advertised everyone to go read when they announced the movie. Not to mention the movie isn’t even good ON ITS OWN. It’s meh at best

I agree the movie is bad but even if it was good it would have flopped because the dcu doesn't have a strong fan base yet, this isn't the 2010s where people would watch any superhero movie, they should have done wonder woman first.
