They trade their hours for dollars, hit the ceiling of what one human can earn, and assume the problem is the job market or their boss or the economy. It’s not. The problem is they never moved to stage two. I’ve lived all four of these. Started in stage one stocking shelves at the liquor store. Added skills until I could run the store, then the second store, then construction. Added people until I wasn’t the bottleneck on anything. Now I’m in stage four, taking the cash flow these businesses throw off and pointing it at new businesses, real estate, and assets that work for me while I “sleep”…more like work on the next passion project. Here’s the part nobody on this app says out loud. You can’t skip stages. You can’t go from trading time for dollars straight to owning a real estate portfolio. The skills you learn in stage one are what make stage two possible. The people you lead in stage three only respect you because you did the work in stages one and two yourself. The deals you find in stage four are visible to you because of the pattern recognition you built across the first three. The shortcut is the long way.
