I hated being a network engineer. IOS is horrible, you’ll spend most of your time finding a network cable (DB9 to RJ45) that actually works first time and cheap DACs all the time sleeping (yes sleeping) in noisy and cold DCs. You’ll mess up a spanning tree config and kill the network. There’s better jobs in IT bro.

I just started my first network engineering job at an ISP. Started in basic customer support at the same company and just tried to learn as much from the people around me as possible but getting my CCNA was definitely key. We are hiring for that role again if you happen to be near Colorado Springs.

Hi, i would advice to install packettracer or and GNS3 to emulate hardware to test en try stuff. packettracer also has nice courses.

network is amazing, i have a developer background with infra skills so i landed at a cloud provider company as a dev but day to day i have to intervene on servers. We are highly looking for network engineers as we have a growing network to operate as well as sre and others infra roles. I don't know where you are on earth but definitely try to join a cloud provider that's a great experience. 😎

Honestly good take. Get your CCNA, have Good projects and under them like OSPF, Etherchannal etc and you’ll be sweet for entry level/junior role
