@steven: "Women need to stop trying to be losers." When Dr Stephanie Estima said this to me a few minutes into our conversation, she didn't mean it as an insult. She meant that almost every piece of health advice women have been given for decades has been built entirely around loss. Stephanie is a women’s health expert, chiropractor and author who specialises in female physiology. At one point during our chat, I looked across at her and said, “I can see you’re a little bit pissed off”. And I could. After 20 years in clinical practice, she says the same pattern kept showing up in women of every age and background and she's had enough. She believes women have been told their worth is based on how small they are. Stephanie wants to change that by helping women understand how the female body actually works and what it needs to GAIN, not lose. Here is what we covered: - Why the modern pursuit of "skinny" comes at a devastating physiological cost. - The exact shift women need to make to build real, functional muscle. - Lifting exercises women should absolutely never stop doing as they age. - What the data actually says about training around your menstrual cycle. - Why tendons, ligaments and bone density matter infinitely more than the number on the scales. What I appreciated most about Stephanie was how intensely practical she was. She didn't just challenge the old rules - she gave me the precise blueprint for what to do instead. If you’ve been doing everything you were told to do and your body still isn’t responding, this one is for you (and every man reading this should listen to it too if they want to better understand the women in their lives). Walking away from this conversation, it made me realise that maybe the goal was never just to become smaller. Maybe the real goal is to build a body you can trust for the next 50 years. I’ve lost 100 pounds naturally and maintain the majority of that weight loss the last six years. I’ve been strength training for five, and it has truly transformed my body. I love that we are normalizing that we shouldn’t be chasing skinny. I’ve never been healthier in my life at 168 pounds and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

I want to be skinny because smaller clothes are cheaper also having a fat booty is not as exciting as what people think...
