@gallochii4raa._: In Greek mythology, Orpheus was a gifted musician and poet, famous for playing the lyre so beautifully that animals, trees, and even rocks were moved by his music. He fell deeply in love with Eurydice, and they were soon married. Shortly after their wedding, Eurydice was bitten by a snake and died. Heartbroken, Orpheus decided to travel to the Underworld to bring her back. Using the power of his music, he charmed the rulers of the Underworld, Hades and Persephone. Moved by his love and sorrow, they agreed to let Eurydice return to the world of the living on one condition: Orpheus had to walk in front of her and not look back until they had both reached the surface. As they were nearing the exit, Orpheus became anxious and uncertain that Eurydice was still following him. Unable to resist, he turned around to look at her. At that very moment, Eurydice disappeared forever, returning to the Underworld. Orpheus was left alone, grieving the loss of his beloved for the rest of his life. #fyp#orpheusandeurydice#greekmythology#greece

A dear friend and me always debate on their story. I find it deeply touching as loving is to look back; in a crowd to make sure they’re still behind you even though you hold their hands, but she affirms that if Orpheus loved Eurydice enough, he would have fought his own desire to see her and so would have saved her. I love both version of our understanding, because it results in two things needed for love: to care but also to make concessions of our individual desires. Idk if that makes sense, I’d love to see what people think of this

may I ask, if turning back was against their deal, then why did you say "love is to turn around"? I just don't know this story 😭

"Perhaps he makes a choice. He chooses the memory of her. That's why he turns. He doesn't make the lover's choice, but the poet's."

And I think gods knew that, they knew he would turn around so they made it the only rule. In the end gods appear understanding even if love is to turn around
