Not every large plumbing company is dishonest. There are many honest companies that charge more because they provide high-quality work, stand behind their warranties, and have built successful businesses over many years.
A company that's been in business for 15, 20, or even 70 years isn't charging more just because of its name. They charge enough to pay skilled employees, maintain insurance, purchase quality materials, honor warranties, and keep the business running for the long term. If a company doesn't charge the right amount, it won't survive for very long.
Small companies often charge less, and there's nothing wrong with that. But if your goal is to grow your business and still be operating years from now, you have to price your work correctly. You can't simply cut a large company's price in half just to win the job. If you do that, you may end up working for little or no profit, and that's not a sustainable business model.
If you want your company to be successful in 2030 and beyond, you need to think like a long-term business owner. Charge a fair price, provide quality workmanship, and stand behind your work.
Customers should also understand the difference. Some low-priced contractors do excellent work, but others disappear when something goes wrong. They stop answering the phone, and the warranty becomes worthless. An established company is usually still there to honor the guarantees it provides.
The important thing is not whether a company is big or small. What matters is honesty, quality, fair pricing, and standing behind the work. Companies that take advantage of customers may make money in the short term, but eventually their reputation catches up with them. The companies that succeed for decades are the ones that treat their customers fairly and consistently deliver quality service.
