President Trump has caused serious controversy with his comments about taking control of Iran’s oil, including his threats to seize Kharg Island, a strategically important hub for Iranian oil exports. In June, Trump publicly said the United States could take Kharg Island and other oil infrastructure and assume control of Iran’s oil and gas markets, while also acknowledging that such an operation could require American troops on the ground. Kharg Island is particularly significant because it has historically handled the vast majority of Iran’s crude-oil exports, making control of the island a potentially powerful economic weapon against Tehran. However, there is an important distinction between Trump publicly threatening or discussing the seizure of Iranian oil assets and claims that the United States is secretly stealing millions of barrels of Iranian oil under cover of darkness. I have not found credible evidence supporting that specific allegation. What has been publicly reported is that U.S. military and economic pressure has targeted Iran’s ability to generate oil revenue, while Trump has openly talked about using Iran’s energy resources as leverage. A takeover of Kharg Island would also be an extremely dangerous escalation, with reporting indicating that Pentagon officials have considered such an operation risky because it could require ground troops and expose American service members to significant casualties. In my view, the bigger issue is that statements about taking another country’s natural resources raise serious questions about the purpose of the war, the risks to American troops, international law, and whether military force is actually bringing the conflict closer to a peaceful resolution. The public deserves clear facts about what the United States is actually doing—not rumors about secret nighttime oil theft, but also clear answers about what the administration means when it talks about taking control of another nation’s oil industry.#BreakingNews #government #reports #Americans #political
