Europe has, historically, bought quite a lot of military hardware from the U.S. So quite a bit of European money has benefited the U.S. arms producers and thus the U.S. workforce. That never seems to get mentioned in these talks either.

Thank you! Finally an american is explaining the truth to America. Most europeans don't care if U.S. military leaves europe. Some europeans appriciate it if they do so, because America isn't seen as a reliable partner anymore.

Why would Europe with its population of 500million need the help of the US against a country of 140 million. Russia is no superpower its GDP is roughly the same as Spain’s and Spain is not a wealthy country.

I think the most powerful statistic when mentioning healthcare which needs to be the starting point for any and all discussions regarding the US and the OECD/EU is this - over 18% of US GDP comes from healthcare for Public + Private. the equivalent Public + Private figure in the OECD is 10.5% on average. that's despite the US being younger on average and the fact that they get worse health outcomes, living shorter lives and having developing world stats on things like maternal mortality compare to Europe for example.

Let's not forget the NORAD early warning systems in Europe and the CIA intelligence gathering through espionage and listening stations across Europe. Without aircraft stationed in Europe the US won't be able to control events in Europe and the Middle East. If the US military had to withdraw from Europe there would be a lot of US servicemen out of work, the US military industrial complex would see a massive downturn, worse than the downturn caused by the Trump Slump as trust in the US nose dives!

thank you.. and all signs , the sucking upto trump by rutte, the putting gunmanufactoring up and european ..point all towards..US ofT is gonna been thrown out of nato.. in this fashion. nato is abolished, all military are deported thst day.. a new alliance with other countries to replace the US of T. like oucraine... tricking russia cause they won't join nato then...😏 all enemies the us made want a piece of them cause their blind and alone then.
