Boy was recently diagnosed with asthma and the last year has been one hell of a journey. It's been really hard to make this post but seeing videos like this online is exactly what helped Boy get the diagnosis and treatment that he needs, so I wanted to do the same and help other cat parents. As you know, Boy is LOUD 😂 he's always been a loud purrer and snorer and I never thought much of it. But when Boy had his first attack, a video like this popped up on social media and it never left my mind. The next time he had an attack, I filmed it and sent it straight to our vet and we started the journey that led to him being diagnosed with feline asthma. At first, we eliminated environmental triggers at home (candles, dusty litter, diffusers etc.) and put Boy on a diet and exercise plan to lose weight (extra weight means extra stress on his little lungs), and he stopped having attacks for a while. Then it started again and I took him for a very stressful X ray which showed inflammation in his lungs. Our vet then recommended starting inhaler training...and Boy oh boy has that been a ride We're still in training since Boy just does not sit still but he's an incredibly fast learner and the inhaler is definitely helping him. I can't wait to share his inhaler training videos with you soon (my heart melts seeing that little mask on his face I can barely look at them. I'm so proud of him 😭 It's been hard to accept that Boy has something that has no cure and will need lifelong, daily medication. Since he's such a bundle of energy and joy, I wouldn't want anything to ever bring him down or dampen his spirit but he hasn't let it affect him at all 🤍 I also wanted to wait until the treatment was working and we could confirm it was asthma before sharing this. Now I feel ready and I want to help other cat parents spot the signs and support them going through the same journey. Please share, follow our journey and message me with any questions! *This is not medical advice, just sharing our personal experience*
