This is my entire life exactly. I’ve never heard someone explain it so accurately

hi :
I honestly don’t understand… I don’t get the informal social rules and cultural expectations of the workplace. If I excel at the tasks you hired me to do why am I being reprimanded for keeping to myself, not participating in non compulsory company socials, not making eye contact, misunderstanding corporate politics..

I finish my tasks in 2hs. My colleagues barely started theirs by the time I’m done. It’s a nightmare staying in the office for 6 more hours with nothing to do.

Facts, I might be able to learn a new skill in a day but I can’t walk without being judged in society it’s exhausting. If the system was chill and laid back with clear instructions we would thrive

I work at Costco. They don’t give me any chances. I’m autistic and OCD.

Currently navigating support systems to help me find (or create) a job I could actually do for the long term. I know exactly what I need for that and expressed those needs to support workers, but they are treating me as if I'm making too many demands. its not a demand its a NEED ffs

I struggle to completely tasks quickly enough and do it efficiantly/ remembering everything that I need to do. I get overwhelmed by all the tasks I have to do. That's why I struggle in employment. Diagnosed with dyspraxia and on a waiting list for an assessment for autism

I hate that working consistently is so prized. I work so much better going into an insane hyper focus (probably getting five days work done in five hours) and not taking a break til I’m ready (not when I’m told to) and when I take a break, taking as long as I like (not the amount I’m told to) I promise you I am getting more work done in less time including my breaks. And I’m not falling asleep (or into depression) at my desk from plodding through consistently.

I'm late diagnosed adhd and I've always struggled with this, so much I run my own charity now making the difference for the next generation, you would be surprised how many NDs are in positions like mine.

kpi's are stats focussed if you deliver on performance most industries arent gona care about social performance etc. most client facing customer facing jobs are harder for sure. but theres defo way more roles out there for autists than not.

I do in a few hours what it would take most people a week to do and it’s always been a struggle.

Bear with me. If you can work, you should (in a suitable role). If you can't, you shouldn't be forced to do something that will be detrimental to your health. Maybe you can work some times but not others due to health but what chance is there of that being desirable in an already saturated market? I've been disabled for a long time. Sometimes it feels like they're setting you up for a fall.

I've taken myself out of society so it's too late for me but I think it's important to believe in karma and reincarnation.

I’ll never forget the first job I ever applied for at 16 I was denied because I didn’t look the guy in the eyes. It was an ice cream stand in an airport that my friend worked at the time.

my old workplace had a routine (diary) then suddenly because of stats they said okay no routine just pick random customers off the sofa. i hated it and because of this certain ppl ended up doing more work (me) because i could get the appointments done fast without having to speak to much but it started to take a toll on me but they refused to go back to the routine so i was so stressed out , wouldnt get to take my breaks and wouldnt eat properly. no ac in summer and barely any heating in winter. wasnt allowed a fan. its was as if "oh these things are gonna help u so lets take them away"😭 and i look around and nobidy is losing their mind just me

What you've got to realize is the performance is the point. The point in a business, especially the kind that hires people for office work in the UK which will most likely be some kind of financial services company, is not to make or produce anything of value, it is to create a social hierarchy for the owners to be at the top of.
