Five weeks ago I was diagnosed with Stage 2 PMBCL - a rare and aggressive form of Large Diffused Large B Cell Lymphoma (blood cancer) that begins in the chest. I’m 29 years old, married 14 weeks, stopped working completely, and have already had two rounds of chemotherapy alongside PET scans, biopsy surgeries, unending blood tests, multiple ED presentations, and adjusting to my new normal. Today felt big - it’s been difficult to respond to friends over the last few weeks when people say, “You look so good! You don’t even look sick!”. It’s empowering to know I still looked ‘like me’, but the reality has been harder than it looks. The hair loss, fatigue and change within myself has been immense. So I’m learning that both can exist: grief of losing a deep sense of self and now ‘looking like I have cancer’, yet also a deep relief that my bravery now comes from within as I face this next chapter, and cancer doesn’t have ‘a look’ - I’m still the same me I was with hair on my head this morning. This video speaks for itself - the best of the best people in our lives, and a surprise shave from my family in Malaysia this morning too. I am so loved, and not alone. 😭💖 Bringing some of this new journey here on this platform because one of the most comforting things in this period has been being able to witness other survivors a few steps ahead - the hope is radiating when I know that the road is hard but it’s possible. #PMBCL #cancer #nonhodgkinslymphoma #survivingwithhope
