Also fits under the logical fallacy "false dilemma" category because it completely ignores other possibilities. (Bonus: In psychology, it's called "cognitive distortion") - Why it sucks and isn't a valid argument: You're presenting a situation that has only two extreme options, with no middle ground, nuance, or exceptions. - Why it's problematic and a form of ineffective communication (also... disingenuous): It oversimplifies complex issues, is often used just to shut down debate, and it leaves no room for partial agreement or context. (it's also a great way to ensure you trigger defensiveness in others- which doesn't leave a lot of room for true, effective communication. It's a "set up for failure" because you put yourself in a position where you're completely reliant on the other person to pick up the emotional intelligence "slack" in order for the conversation to continue/to preserve any chance of being productive- it also signals that you're not likely to carry your weight in future dialogue and are more inclined to "fight" unfairly- People don't often respond favourably in that situation since it comes off as a lose/lose). - For some reason, you're also completely ignoring points/statements the other creator made that clearly show this isn't her perspective at all and not even close to the point she was making- perhaps that's unintentional on your part and you just didn't try to understand where she was coming from before forming and defending your opinion? Or maybe you just didn’t understand her point and that resulted in this misunderstanding? Genuinely unsure because this is so far off it doesn’t make sense, but either way: This rebuttal is for sure disingenuous. Sorry, momma. You drew my attention 😂 --- ***NOT AI. Personally I think that most of the people saying all these unpleasant things are jumping on the bandwagon, like you say - for engagement. It's ridiculous. As modern Pagans we should be highly focused on respecting the choices of people's freedom to walk whatever path in life that they need to.
