Then fed Ella another bite. Jennie watched quietly, smiling to herself. Lisa did the same with the crab. Then the squid. Taking her time with every single piece so Ella wouldn’t have to worry about shells or bones. Ella watched every movement carefully. Lisa immediately reached for a tissue and gently wiped her nose. “There we go.” “Thank you.” Jennie quietly handed Lisa a peeled shrimp. “For you.” Lisa blinked. “You peeled mine?” Jennie smiled. “Someone has to feed the one who’s feeding our baby.” Lisa looked genuinely touched. “Mommy naman…” Ella looked between them. Then picked up a tiny piece of fish Lisa had prepared. She held it toward Lisa with both little hands. “Dammy.” Lisa leaned closer. “For me?” Ella nodded. “Ah.” Lisa opened her mouth dramatically. Ella carefully fed her. Lisa chewed exaggeratedly. “Mmm.” “So delicious.” Ella smiled proudly. Then immediately turned toward Jennie. “Mommy.” Jennie leaned down. Ella held out another tiny bite. “For mommy.” Jennie smiled warmly. “Thank you, baby.” She accepted the bite, then kissed Ella’s cheek. “My sweet girl.” Nestled safely on Lisa’s lap, with Jennie beside them and their family chatting around the table, Ella let out one last sleepy yawn.
