In 2017, French performance artist Abraham Poincheval carried out an unusual art project titled Oeuf (Egg) at the Palais de Tokyo museum in Paris. In this performance, he attempted to incubate around ten chicken eggs using only his body heat. He sat inside a glass enclosure on a specially designed chair with the eggs placed in a container beneath him. Wrapped in an insulating blanket and following a strict routine, he remained in the same position for most of the day, leaving only briefly for meals and basic necessities. The setup was designed to keep the eggs at a temperature close to natural incubation conditions, while visitors observed him as part of the exhibition. The project lasted about three weeks, matching the natural incubation period of chicken eggs. Poincheval carefully maintained his position for long hours to simulate the role of a brooding hen, aiming to explore the relationship between human and animal conditions.
