@aira_oki_nawa: 【A TikTok comment led me to a story I never expected】 I shared a festival from my hometown, and someone from the Philippines told me about a similar tradition. that simple comment led me to learn about an important piece of history and reminded me how meaningful cultural exchange can be🙏 #History #TaongPutik #thephilippines
sorry I forgot to mention that the festival is called Taong Putik ("Mud People"). there are many articles about its history and traditions online if you're curious to learn more🙏🏼

it is quite a unique feeling to find connections among different cultures, it has a sweet-sour flavor when it comes due to war, colonization or forms of domination. I don't know if it's comparable but to me is similar when I find out about traditions I used to think they were Mexican but they come from Spain, but also shared in the rest of Latin America. it is quite curious when I heard things like champurrado originated in Mexico and then it traveled to Asia through the Philippines, or the whole hot-spicy food tradition in China comes from imported chili from Mexico. the world is so connected!
