As an esthetician, it's your pillow. Every time I see this, I always ask which side they sleep on, and it's always the side that's breaking out. Make sure you're cleaning your pillowcases at least once a week, and wear something that covers your hair, like a bonnet, because the dirt, oil, and product in your hair transferring to the pillow can cause acne. Also, pillowcases harbor bacteria. I would also recommend switching to a silk or bamboo pillowcase because the harsh rubbing of cotton fabric can irritate your skin.
