@billycoachcoff: THE LAST STEP. Most athletes think the collision is won at impact. It’s not. It’s won with the last step before you launch. Step too far and your mass stays behind your power position. Step too close and you lose your leverage before contact. The goal is simple: Keep your lead knee in a quarter squat position. That way you’re already loaded and ready to transfer strength into explosive power, instead of having to sink before you fire. At Collision Intelligence, we call it “Tripping the Gutter.” Find your range. Step as if you’re about to trip the curb. Lock your lead knee. Shift your body until your belly button is past your kneecap. Then… LAUNCH. When you combine the perfect last step with the correct approach line, you don’t just make contact… You arrive with intent. That’s how collisions become dominant instead of neutral. The hit is only the door knock. The drive is the invitation in. Never stop moving. #mindset #mindset #tackle #collision

if you hit this high in american football your getting run over, ball carriers aren’t running straight up like the people getting hit here, runners lower their helmet and shoulder pad level too

I love your technique and explosiveness. I coach American football and one of the biggest indicators of whether you miss a tackle or a tackle is broken is head placement. Rarely do you have tackles that are head on, most are chasing the runner from an angle. I have found if you get your head in front of the runner, it is way less likely you will miss the tackle. Most missed tackles come from putting your head behind or on the hip of the side you’re chasing from. Of course we do wear helmets and maybe that is more of a safety issue for rugby.

I wish I'd seen this earlier before I stopped rugby. tackling was never my strongest point, though I had no choice.
