I never join any parent WhatsApp group, my son never go tuition, I never ask him about his academic but I cares about his behaviour and path of progress in school like friendship and to love himself more, he do better than those friends that parents spend $2k /month for tuitions. If u want them to have good education they must have good attitude and mindset first

i had two friends who always skipped school in poly. GPA 2 because the school rounds it up. they wised up not long after somewhere during intern/NS. now they are happily married with their respective success in their careers. grades aren't everything and save that tuition fee for vacations

Actually it depends what time u start the tuition for yr child. It might be too late for him to practice that’s why the bad marks. But having the tuition, son struggle less and show more confidence in secondary. Tuition will still be good for all children so that they have more practice and feel lesser stress in Sch when everyone might be rushing.

hmm... I don't know if just classifying him as a late bloomer is fair. I remember growing up I was failing my maths and my mom hired a tutor for a few months before my grades went up. how would you know that his improvement had nothing to do with the tuitions at all? sometimes we need to get that "ah-ha" moment before we understand the subjects. and tutors theoretically helps us reach that moment faster.

don't compare and don't compete
he did not do well for psle does not mean the tuition does not work, there is a lot of factors for not meeting expectations. it helps him strengthened his foundations
I always advise parents to talk to their kids on what tuition they need and not assume what tuition they need. because if they don't want to study, tuition does not help much.

Your learning journey doesn’t end. After 25 years, at the tender age of 65, my dad finally understood each child is different. I ended up ok, my dad now just smiles and laughs with his grandkids

You're doing what you need to do as a parent. You reached out to help him excel .. thats the best you can do besides providing him with a conducive environment to succeed at home. The rest is up to him .. its his life, you cannot dictate his success. But you can provide the assistance where needed or where you see fit.
