My FIL wanted me to carry down either his name , or his dads name for one of my twin boys . NOPE . The FATHER of my boys and I chose to go a different route . We kept the fathers middle name and used a different name for our second twin boy 🥰

Yeah my MIL and SIL tried that… not happening. SIL went so far as to post my ultrasound pick with the middle name her and MIL had picked. Did not happen. Now they just refuse to acknowledge her middle name at all.

I hate this. It's up to nobody but the parents what the child is named tradition or not. We kind of have a name tradition in my family on my mom's side, it's not an official trandition but it's there lol. If I was having a girl I would have continued it but nobody forced me to. Nobody even brought it up. My mom's middle name is incorporated into my middle name and I would have done the same for my baby if I had a girl but Im having a boy. That's my choice and nobody else's.

This almost happened to me with my first baby dad's family. They wanted me to carry on the family middle name. I said, absolutely not! We aren't even married! But, I did give my son his bio dad's last name as his middle name. We ended up getting along after they realized they couldn't mess with me. Lol 😊😁

Maybe I’m weird, but my SIL said she’d name her son Taylor… which is also my husband’s (her brother’s) name. There are so many family names to choose from. 😅 and no they aren’t that close or anything or maybe it bothers me more than it should because I got my issues with her

No family tradition but I'm pregnant with our second girl and we are naming her after my grandmother. We haven't told my MIL her name yet even though she keeps asking because she will immediately tell every she knows, and because once she's done telling them she will cry about it being my grandma and not my husband's grandma.

We chose the first names for our twins but scoured the family trees to see if there were names we liked for middle names! For our boy, we went with my husbands great grandfathers name and for our girl, there was an overlap for the name of his great aunt and my great grandmother. No tradition, just picking names we liked that honored important people to us. We have Waylen Luther and Ilya Ruth

My dad named my 1st son after himself because it’s a family name and I didn’t care one bit! We thought it was funny. He said he’d call him that anyway and he would have. my dad was a legend.

Pregnant with my husband’s first, before we found out it was a girl my MIL said if it’s a boy it had to be Joseph (like my husband, his father, grandpa and so on). I said no if she really wants another Joseph she can have another kid…. 😠

My husband is the 3rd. His parents expect us if we have a son to name him the 4th. Absolutely not. There are no good nicknames left & it's caused so many issues with my husband(i.e we paid his dad's car insurance prices for years before we realized they thought his accidents were my husbands)
