I’m in the uk. We have 3 window units. We bring them out for heatwaves! and we store them for not heatwaves. It’s not much different from having and storing winter or rain gear.. you just put them away when it’s not time for them..

Wait.... hold up. I'm a surgical tech in the USA. According to our standards of practice, the humidity in an OR has to stay between 30-60%. Above that everything in the room is considered non-sterile due to the water in the air possibly carrying bacteria. How does Europe keep the humidity controlled in the OR without A/C????

I was listening to NPR the other day and they were talking about the heat wave in Europe and france specifically. they said it would cost tens of billions to retrofit everything w ACs but they are losing about 40 billion a year in income due to the heat waves anyways because of shops closing etc and it's affecting tourism
