I am a NYC building mamager. Landlords will cut expenses and defer maintenance where they can. The city will lose millions on not being able to charge the same in real estate tax because the landlords are making less money. They will also lose the sales tax on improvements and supplies. On top of all this they will lose payroll tax because now vendors will have to lay off workers because landlords aren't hiring them. Everything has a cause and effect. In 2019 when the city changed the laws I said landlords will now keep apts empty when they become vacant. Now NYC has over 50,000 apts sitting empty. An empty apt serves no one.

There are so many people that do not understand how this works, though all they understand is Rent Freeze. And they don’t even care to look into it. And they don’t care how it affects anyone as long as they benefit. They don’t care about the larger outcome. They just care about the now.
