fun fact, in France if you lease a spot for your business you lease it for 3/6/9 years BUT if you close your business in a Year of its opening you can break your lease without penalty. It's the main cause for our novelty shops to stay for just a year in most cities ☺️

Once asked the one closest to my work if they had any syrups, they laughed and said "oh that's not coffee". Anyway between 2018 and 2020 i collectively spent roughly £2000 on the second closest coffee shop

My partners family run a restaurant and have been leading this one building for probably 40 years and have offered to buy it multiple times but the landlord has refused. Now they’re downsizing the business to the building they own because the owner won’t sell.

There’s a local café I really like, but I think they’re gonna close. There’s no space to sit down in or near it, it’s tucked into the very back of the shopping center, and they close so early that I never get to go. They just started opening at seven.

All bar one coffee shop near me is in the town centre. That place is dead, Costa and the couple of smaller ones are empty. The best ones are in a shopping area such as a supermarket as you can park for free and they are big brands.

my favorite cafe is run by a well known local chef. he really operates it as a counter service brunch place that also serves really good coffee. they have been open for 4 years now and it's packed from open to close every day so definitely a winning model

Some of the most successful newer coffee shops near me started in another business before getting their own dedicated space. Mostly local breweries (convenient opposite schedules and prebuilt drink service infrastructure), but also some others.
