People who lose a child and spend the rest of their days on earth passionately and selflessly working to prevent families from going through the same pain deserve nothing but the highest respect. Words aren't enough but thank you for saving babies 🙏

The search being “trigg Kiser pool footage” is actually disgusting. Human curiosity needs to pauseeee.

I was a lifeguard for 4 years at a year round pool and I completely agree with puddle jumpers and arm floaties, however, life jackets you can, in fact, still learn to swim because you have free use of your arms, your arms are not being held in a certain position and many life jackets you are able to go at an angle. I do understand what you mean by the live jackets help them float, but live jackets definitely save lives. Puddle jumpers tend to make kids lean forward and they can't lift their head up completely. I also taught swim lessons to children. I truly do believe swim skills are the most important. However, if that is not available to you, always life jacket over puddle jumpers and arm floaties. If your kid cannot get the hang of swimming without a life jacket, you can teach them to have to ask permission to get into the pool, that is what we had our kiddos do for swim lessons before they could get into the pool each time they had to ask. My baby girl is nine weeks old, and I am already starting swim lessons with her during bath time we are getting her face wet and learning to float on our back and we will continue to build these skills as she gets older. It is never too early to start building skills.

My son just turned two. I saw one of your videos when I was pregnant, and I have never put him in a flotation device. we go to the pool two to three times a week, and I hold him the whole time. He lays on his tummy and kicks, he lays on his back and kicks, we dunk him and I hold him. it's really frustrating sometimes because my entire family uses puddle jumpers, and they make all these comments about how I'm making my life so much harder.

As I was drowning, as a five-year-old, I heard a loud voice say, “look up, and you will float.” It saved my life! It taught me about buoyancy.

Reminder: if everyone is watching then no one is watching. Don’t assume that others are watching your kid just because you’re in a group.

I wish swim classes were more affordable for families. it is a critical skill everyone needs and not everyone has access to a pool or the money for swim classes

I still believe a life jacket is necessary on a boat (and legally required), but this changed my perspective on using them in a pool. Thank you for this message.

THIS. A healthy fear is so important. When we are by the ocean or lake (docks etc) my five year old wears a life jacket. But when we are in the water with him, we practice his swimming skills and he’s in lessons year round. As a nurse I don’t play with water

As a lifeguard at a pool, we didn’t allow any kind of floatation device because it gives a false sense of security and leads to parents not watching their kids. Parents were not happy. I hadn’t considered this point tho that it literally teaches the drowning position. Super informative thank you.

I worked a swim instructor last year and one thing we did was teach babies how to save themselves. How to float, how to hold their breath, how to get to the edge and grab it and climb. It felt like I made a real difference

Floats also instil a false sense of security in adults. You’re less vigilant, as you feel they’re safe because they have floaters on
