Capitalism and Socialism can coexist in the same economy, but there has to be checks and balances. As it stands now we are dealing with unchecked, rampant Capitalism where only the people at the top benefit while the people at the bottom suffer.

Democratic Socialism IS fair capitalism. It is just saying that ownership becomes distributed, rather than having one rich owner for every million poor renters/workers.
