There seems to be another possibility here going purely on your explanation. Would the individual credit God if it was not brought into the conversation? This could signal a guilt situation where they are unable to credit themselves if God is an explicit option (essentially saying god does not deserve credit).

That test seems kinda gross. I'm atheist but any time I've seen others subjected to similar, they fairly state that god isn't some parlor trick to win Battleships, that it's basically blasphemy equipping god like a passive buff. So I'm surprised they could make a sample for something this frivolous. Besides, religions just SAY they engender this in followers. I think in the Quran there's a verse that spells out: if any good comes from you it's of God, anything bad is of ourselves. Where I think a distinction between sunk-your-ship 'success' and 'good' must be drawn.
