@lee_theocdtherapist: One of the hardest parts about growing up with OCD is that you often don’t realize it’s OCD. You just think you’re an anxious kid. You think you’re “overthinking.” You think you’re weird. You think something is wrong with you. So you spend years trying to fix yourself, when in reality, you were trapped in a cycle that no one ever taught you how to break. The beautiful part is this: OCD is one of the most treatable mental health conditions when it’s treated the right way. Recovery isn’t about getting rid of intrusive thoughts. It’s about changing how you respond to them. I offer everyone a free 30-minute consultation where I’ll learn about your story, teach you exactly how OCD works, and show you how to break this cycle for good using ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), the most effective treatment for OCD. If you’d like to work with me moving forward, amazing. If not, you’ll still leave our meeting with helpful guidance and a much clearer understanding of what’s been happening. DM me “CONSULT” or sign up directly at OCDtherapist.org. Email: [email protected] . . . . #ocd #ocdrecovery #ocdawareness #intrusivethoughts #ocdproblems

My daughter was just diagnosed. That’s when I realized that I had it as well. Here I just thought I was crazy. Never realized that’s what OCD was.

I have a OCD. I was diagnosed from an Oprah episode lol. People still don’t understand my struggles. The only thing that helps me is to know I’m not the only one

I was always an anxious kid. I would almost throw up before soccer games and dry heave. I was also always called a hypochondriac as a child.

My parents should have been clued in when I started asking them the same checklist of questions every single night before bed when I was 5. They thought it was just a cute quirk but I literally couldn’t sleep if they didn’t answer them

When i was 8 i refused to eat anything because i thought i would get sick from food and i spent most of my day washing my hands to the point of them cracking i was dangerously underweight and nobody knew what was wrong and i was to scared to tell anyone. Im about to start therapy and im so excited to finally try to manage this.

I used to ask my kindergarten teacher everyday if I was going to pass. Being a teacher now, I can’t believe no one noticed that wasn’t normal.

I have bipolar 1 and adhd so i never realized how much my OCD was effecting me and how bad it actually is. Now that im properly medicated for my other conditions I am struggling with OCD. Found out thinking of worst case senerio for everything isnt just being prepared, not using favorite items so i dont “ruin” them, intrusive thoughts especially random intimate ones make me feel like a terrible person even if its just a passing thought, my trouble with affection and coming off wrong, replaying conversations and social interactions obsessively is not social anxiety its ocd for me, and so many more. Also realizing my hoarding as a child was a part of it. Through exposure therapy I have really cured alot of my compulsions (worrying if I dont do tasks people will pass or checking the stove and such a million times) but its always replaced with another 😩 its exhausting, like constant exposure therapy and exposure therapy sucks (it works but just hard). Does it ever end or is it this constant battle with a new compulsion?
