@leahshomestead: We turned nearly half our yard into clover… and people definitely thought we were crazy. 🌱 But this wasn’t about having a perfect lawn. It was about building healthier soil, helping our fruit trees, attracting pollinators, cutting back on mowing, and creating a homestead that works with nature instead of against it. Sometimes the best solution isn’t more work—it’s planting the right thing. Would you replace part of your lawn with clover, or are you sticking with grass? #Homesteading #Gardening #Clover
Very medicinal also! Clover makes a beautiful tea 🥳🥳

Plant purple clover next year it’s a perennial, so less work the next year following. Crimson Clover is an annual clover flower single-season cover crop that dies off in cold weather. And the sweet yellow clover is a biennial so it will flower the second year and then die off after that winter. Purple clover is a perennial clover with large, round or globe-shaped, cherry-red to pinkish-purple flowers. Its leaves are larger, oval-shaped, and usually feature a distinct pale chevron (or "V") mark on them. It tends to live for multiple years and survives much harsher winter conditions. Purple clover deposits an impressive 70 to 150 pounds of nitrogen per acre directly back into your soil. Leaving the plants to break down into the soil drastically cuts down on the need for commercial fertilizers. It even fixes nitrogen efficiently in soils where nitrogen is already high. Purple clover is exceptional for both fixing nitrogen and preventing soil erosion. And it’s highly beneficial for bunnies because it is packed with essential nutrients, highly digestible, and incredibly delicious to them. In fact, it is considered a premium natural treat Purple (red) clover is highly beneficial for bunnies because it is packed with essential nutrients, highly digestible, and incredibly delicious to them.
