theyve been attacked and not had space to hide, cichlids do well in packed groups but they still need hiding spots to go to when theyre being picked on too much

yes it’s good to overstock cichlids however in my experience peacocks stay with peacocks, mbuna with mbuna, and SA cichlids with SA cichlids (the convicts) and that’s where you’ll get the better results. especially considering most peacocks run you $40 +, the varying levels of aggression they are not as up there with the rest of the cichlids, mostly just with each other.

ok so you got like all the wrong cichlids together bro oh my. convicts are not to be put with Africans. that venustus is going to get massive and its aggression during breeding months will kill most of that tank. Labs are fine with the venustus in a large enough tank and I think i saw either a compressycep or a malwai cichlid which in that tank. Just no. you can stack peacocks THATS IT. you can stack convicts THATS IT. you can stack polars, and regular parrots, and other cichlids of the same GEOGRAPHIC RANGE. dont ever ever ever mix them. different temper, size, breeding pattern, and overall way to keep them. keep africans with africans (and yes that means the individual lakes) central with central south american with south american.
