For everyone asking, Google just taught me the following: yes, there’s a round trip options from Rockaway Beach to Wheeler and back. Looks like be $32 a person. It’s just over two hours. Better to buy tickets online. There’s an outdoor and indoor option. Food and snacks allowed. And it’s called Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad. Not all heroes wear capes.

I actually didn’t think it was that great. I took my two (barely) adult sons to Oregon in early June. The weather was fabulous. The people were super friendly, but the actual train ride was just boring. Between Rockaway and Garibaldi there is not much scenery. You see the beach for about 2 seconds and the rest is either bushes or houses or ponds. Garibaldi was not really that great and I’m glad we didn’t opt to spend more time there. We used the entire 30 minutes walking a block to the gas station to buy snacks for the trip back. If you have little kids, it might be fun for them.

Great spot! The highway 101 drives through most of those views. For free, catching the locomotive stationed in downtown Rockaway is awesome with all of the sounds it makes. Did that last year on the 4th of July and it so happens that Rockaway Beach has the best fireworks display on the Oregon coast. Astoria second 😜

The ride from giribaldi > Rockaway is better. Rockaway is a better town to get out and explore by the stop versus giribaldi
