100% agree. My mother is the way she is because of her upbringing, I understand that. She carried that down to me, and I don't understand that. Going into therapy showed me something can be done about it and she still hasn't done anything.

My sister in law always says “but she was hit as a child she had a hard life” I started saying well she hit and abused me would it be okay for me to start beating my child then? She shut up quickly.

I wish I could hold my mam accountable for her actions & put myself first.. I just feel so guilty cos she had it rough, was a single parent etc & I make excuses for her 😔

my mother was horrible to me and stopped speaking to me for many years. I didn't go to her funeral that was my choice and I don't regret that. However the choice I made was to be the best mum and person I could be. I am the woman I am today is because of the choices I made because of her . xxx
