I am a caveman, I am still prompting Gemini, and copy pasting the code, but what makes me different from other cavemen, is I actually know what I need from the model. So I give it a well detailed system message and let it provide the code, I then iterate over the response until I get something remotely close to how I would do it. Plus I don't have money to buy thousands of tokens from anthropic 😁😁😁

My golden rule is to never copy-paste from Claude. If it gives me a code snippet I’m putting it on a second monitor and typing it out manually, sure it’s still copying, but at least I have a full picture of what’s happening, and I can correct inconsistencies on the fly.

Learn the systems. Learn about Postgres, learn about OpenBao, learn about Linux/sysadmin, learn about git hygiene, learn about CI/CD, learn about architecture. You don’t really need to learn to code nowadays but learning everything around it is the most valuable thing now… imo

i was wondering how juniors would start out nowadays in the age of ai. this is brilliant. for seniors tho, a company pays for your claude, they will expect fast results so for us learning would need to happen off the clock when working on your own projects
