3D printing and MLMs do not belong at craft fairs or farmer's markets.

This is just my own take, but I think the issue is exactly what you said, it’s people basically mass-producing the same six fidget trinkets they and everyone else downloaded. It’s over saturation of the same stuff. At the same time, I have seen 3D printed items that are custom designs or cosplay props that are insanely impressive, also really useful things like modular containers for storing tools and art supplies, I feel like those are a lot more interesting than another rainbow filament articulated slug fidget.

3D printing is good when it’s for a purpose rather than a profit. D&D minis, for example, are pretty regularly 3D printed. My group 3D prints our minis for battle, but we don’t try to do that for profit, just because we want the funny little statues on our grid

It’s the lack of uniqueness and the price. I have seen many 3d prints going for $15+. Especially the prints that have zero finishing done. Just fresh off the printer.

3D printed products are 99% trash and no place at craft fairs. There is an exception unique custom designed products that involve additional hand made components. Stuff like printed beads/charms made into jewelry and accessories, or printed organizers that are hand painted or embellished are good because there’s more skill to it than “here is this thing I downloaded”

3d printed things can be amazing if done with actual artistry and intent. The same garbage printed over and over is so wasteful and useless. My husband is an otr trucker so we are in truck stops everyday. Every single one is packed full of it. Same stuff over and over. No one buys it, it's all going to end up in landfills.

if the stuff you print is something you designed, I'm OK with it. if I never seen another dragon, it will be too soon

Personally, I don’t like the overconsumption that comes with it like they’re making useless crap it’s gonna end up in the garbage, but also I’ve had 3-D printed products that I use every day. For example, I got an adapter piece for my car 3-D printed. I use it every time I drive my car.

I feel like 3D printing is like bedazzling, it's fun for you, it's probably not something somebody else wants to pay money for.

I hate most 3d printing, but I don't think it's fair to compare it to AI. those 3d models were still made by artists. I'd say it's more comparable to drop shipping because they're producing a large amount of low quality items they had no part in designing. I think 3d printing does have a place at craft fairs, just not what you'll find at them now. I'm all for an artist 3d printing their own model, finishing, and painting it.

They’re only out if you’ve fallen for the scam of capitalism… it’s a tool to make cheap things at such a low rate compared to where other places sell them (start making replacement pieces for different things that need new parts, or just start finding small solutions to problems that have bothered them forever)

the only profitable 3d printing company I've seen actually had a printer set up and they were making the smaller items there on the spot. they offered custom ones.

if someone is making their own models, there's some creativity going into it. we're tired of slop like dragons and small plastic vases being $30

I think it depends on quality level. Those dragons you see at the gas station don’t belong at a craft fair. They had their time. It’s like the fidget spinners grandma still gets you for a stocking stuffer
