never got/was afraid of being bullied for wearing cheap clothes, but i do remember coming in wearing uniform several times because mum didn't have the £1 requirement - yep my primary school charged us for it.

I remember growing up my mom was literally just over the threshold for free school meals, but she worked at my primary school so used to give me her free school dinner instead 😩

Having a bath by candle light because the emergency electric ran out, not because it’s cute or romantic. A week in Blackpool for a summer holiday. Asking the man in the newsagents if the milk for breakfast can be put on tick until payday. Helping mum and dad with the bills as soon as you’re old enough for a paper round. Sausages for dinner every night because the value ones from Tesco were cheap and beans were 9p for a can.
