@the.baby.dietitian: Important note: While breast milk or formula meets the nutritional needs of most healthy, full-term infants for about the first six months, there are a few important exceptions. • Vitamin D: Breastfed infants should receive 400 IU of vitamin D daily beginning shortly after birth, unless an alternative maternal high-dose vitamin D supplementation strategy has been recommended by their healthcare provider. • Iron: Some infants may require supplemental iron before six months, particularly those born prematurely, with low birth weight, born to mothers with iron deficiency, or who have other risk factors for iron deficiency. Iron needs should always be discussed with your child's pediatrician and individualized based on their medical history. #blw #babyled #babyfood #babymeals
