Let's stop making everything about politics. This is about Ghana and the lives of Ghanaians—not political parties.
Yes, the government has a responsibility to provide effective drainage systems, enforce sanitation laws, and respond swiftly to disasters. However, we as citizens also have a responsibility. Many of the floods we experience are made worse by our own actions: dumping rubbish into drains, allowing gutters to become clogged, and engaging in practices that damage our communities and environment.
Even if every drain is cleared today, what happens if we return to the same habits tomorrow? We will continue to face the same devastating consequences.
This is not the time for blame or political division. It is a time for accountability, unity, and collective action. Lasting solutions require both responsible leadership and responsible citizens. Government must fulfill its duties, but citizens must also play their part by protecting public spaces and adopting better environmental practices.
Let us all commit to keeping our surroundings clean, disposing of waste responsibly, and encouraging others to do the same. Together, we can build a cleaner, safer, stronger, and more resilient Ghana for ourselves and future generations. The responsibility belongs to all of us.
