I read your description, and I think you have a good point. And for those who recently left MAGA... I appreciate seeing y'all do that work with them. I think those of us who have never been MAGA and have felt the injury on us & those we love, the fight we've been in leaves us unable to extend that kind of grace. We are too busy being a buffer for those who MAGA has hurt the most. And we can't tolerate the inherent risk in allowing any MAGA ideology around our spaces. Plus, we don't have the kind of understanding you have for the nuances of how MAGA works. So as a white person, I am a buffer that's closer to those most endangered, and you are an added layer of buffer that's closer to the threat.

I tried and tried since 2015 and in 2024 I was done. It’s exhausting and it actually hurts after a while. But I’m glad you are still in your trying phase. We need people who still have the will to try.

It’s too late. At this point, if they still support Trump, it’s too late. There has been so much actual factual information they choose to ignore. I’d rather spend my energy helping good people instead of trying to convince bad people to be good.

I appreciate what’re you’re saying, but trying to engage, talk about topics, share understanding is something we’ve been trying to do for a decade. Yes I can acknowledge that where it comes from matters and if you personally want to try to “open eyes” wish you luck. It’s a mistake for us to look to these hard core MAGA voters to have some epiphany before midterms IMO.

Many of us tried and tried and tried until we were blue in the face, to talk to our family and friends all of 2015 & 2016 (I cut people off late 2016/early 2017). But some continued to try 2017–2020, and didn’t cut people off until late 2020. And then you have that small percentage left trying to convince y’all in 2023 & 2024 before even they finally gave up (some were newer or first time voters who didn’t get to fully experience their friends and families bigotry until the most recent election). But even they could not sustain and recently gave up as well. At this point it really should be former MAGA to do the work and talk to their own, because they never listened to us a decade ago anyway. Keep it going, we support you, but we’re all “tried” out.

I agree! If you are willing and able to work with people . I had to protect my peace with some people bc it got to the point of abusive. However, I applaud you for doing it! I grew up in Georgia and there and a lot of my family is maga. I live in Colorado now. Keep up the amazing work
