@amandicakes: Replying to @Zero Content Who knew a little video would be such rage bait I just wanted to laugh about my silly blanket set up 🤣 #canicule #heatwave #parisheatwave #caniculeparis
As an American, I am proud that you are embracing the rest of the world's culture. AC is life.

Respectfully, as someone who relies on portable AC units, may I share some advice? If you hang a thick, heavy comforter or blanket over the windows and doors of the rooms your units are in, it’ll make a big difference. The cool air escapes through the cracks and gaps in all doors and windows, and the sunlight coming in naturally will work against the AC by adding heat back in. The blankets insulate against the hot sunlight, and keep the cool air from escaping. Will your rooms feel like dark caves? Yes. Will they feel much cooler? Also yes. Stay safe out there ❤️

People need to grasp that with global warming the summers are getting hotter and hotter. There’s no sense in dying from heatstroke if you can prevent it.

Honestly 42 to 25 is a pretty big difference. Idk Celsius but even central air in the us in apartments struggle if it’s over a certain temp

There’s a ton of people in here who have decided to make perfect the enemy of good enough. Yes, the vent kit isn’t perfect. However, the unit still cools the room pretty well. Both things can be true.

we only said it needs to be dual hosed , to be more efficient

you're doing good 👍 🇺🇸🦅🎉 I would also recommend adding more window insulation like cardboard for better efficiency. but if you're fine with it, that's good too

A window ac won’t be perfect on the hottest days but anything is better than nothing

Tip 1: if the hose is hot and radiating heat back into the room, wrap it in foil insulation to reduce heat escaping. Tip 2: look up how to convert a single hose AC to a dual hose AC. Single hose ACs create “negative pressure” which gets replaced by hot air from elsewhere. People have DIY’d them using a box, tape and a hose. It’s not pretty but it should make it work more efficiently. Tip 3: if the room is large/high ceilings, it may be underpowered, in which case you could try diving the room with thermal curtains etc (temporarily) to make a “smaller room” for it to cool. Tip 4: those zip up window kits aren’t good. like in tip 1, get some foil insulation & tape, cover all the gaps around the opening in the window to minimise heat coming in, and try to create a tight seal around the hose exit so heat isn’t just coming back in. Hope this helps 😊

25 from 42 is actually pretty good. People dont realize that a lot ofnthese units arent going to lower the temperature much more than a 20 degree difference from outside. Without a large unit or central air, you'd just be overworking the poor thing and itd break faster. Enjoy that cool air, my dear!

Sure it'll use a lot of electricity to cool down the sweltering hot room. BUT once the room is cool, maintaining that temp uses far less power.

You need something more solid with a better seal. Even just cardboard and some packing tape would work.

It basically sucks some of the air it produces and throws it outside that pipe, not the best

You need a dual hose portable AC. This one is for very small space and it’s inefficient

ok, real talk though. if you want a cool house, you cannot have it bright also. Embrace "The Cave" and keep it dark aka avoid any outside heat source (the sun)

AC removes humidity and 25C with low humidity is GREAT, especially when combined with breeze from a fan

Tbf the dual hose ones are a bit more efficient / can cool more. But single hose is better than nothing! sucks to have to sacrifice the rest of the apartment but to maximize coolness maybe choose one smaller space you can close off like your bedroom concentrate all your cooling power there?
