She was found wandering the streets with rubber bands wrapped around her snout and belly. Her ribs were broken, and she was carrying two deceased puppies inside of her tiny, battered body.⁠ ⁠ This wasn’t neglect—this was torture. We will never know exactly what was done to Daffodil, but it must have been more awful than anything we could imagine. We believe her abuser tied her mouth shut to silence her screams and kicked her until her ribs snapped. ⁠ ⁠ Daffodil was rushed to the ER, and we were contacted immediately. Without hesitation, we said yes to taking her in, no matter the cost. Now, this sweet girl Daffodil is receiving emergency, life-saving care. She has already had surgery to remove her babies and her irreparably damaged uterus. She’s undergoing treatment for her injuries, including her broken ribs and severe internal trauma.⁠ ⁠ This is one of the worst abuse cases we’ve ever seen. Thankfully, Animal Control acted swiftly—they found her former owner and informed them that she would never be returned. An active police investigation is now underway. ⁠ ⁠ Daffodil’s care will be extensive, costly, and long-term. She will need continued hospitalization, pain management, possible surgeries, and eventually, a safe and loving place to recover.
