It looked like a metallic object reflecting the sunlight. Curious, she decided to dive down to take a closer look. About two meters below the surface, she found a heavy gold bar resting on the lakebed. She brought it up carefully and realized it was not just any object. The bar weighed around 500 grams and had markings that read “Degussa Fine Gold 999.9.” Experts later estimated its value at about €16,000. Even though she was young, the girl made an honest decision. She immediately took the gold bar to the local police station and reported what she had found. The authorities began an investigation to find the owner. They checked the bar closely, but the serial number had been scratched off, making it impossible to trace its origin. For months, no one came forward to claim it.
