i have chickens, cats, parkeerschijf and an aquarium with beautifull small topical colorfull fish..but i live in the netherlands an aquarium is soothing, more fascinating then tv. once u bought the aquarium and pump there is very little costs.. if ur boys are into nature and like to watch the nature little wonders, take a clean empty glass pot with lid and go to the nearest seaside or (clean) riverside..pick up some sand from there and some plants and water from near the landside..put the pot close on ur room and watch evry day what wonders will appear..little criteria will appear and eat eachother and survival.. after some month u return evrything to the river or sea..

My 17 year old twin boys both got fish this year and they are a lot of work and boring to me. The only thing good about it is their tank sound is nice.
