That is such a great flex- a book written by a neuroscientist. Me, I’m the neuroscientist

My chronic stress has triggered tinnitus. If anyone has a solution, I'm all ears because I feel like I've tried everything but it's not going away...

whenever I think all my friends hate me, I think of that scene in Meet the Robinson where goob is like "they all hated me" while people are asking him to hang out etc. I call it "pulling a goob" and it helps reframe it in a silly way

How do you apply this when you are 50 and homeless for the first time in your life? I can’t find any reasons to hold on. Being very serious with this question.

What eventually helped me was making a distinction between loneliness and solitude.
Periods of selective solitude helps the overwhelm and resets the social bettery to stave off loneliness.

That is why I loathe generative AI. It is annihilating my sense of awe and delight, at least when it comes to art and creation.
I'm an artist and every time I come across a spectacular photo or painting online, instead of going "woooow!" as I used to, my first reaction now is to be suspicious. It makes me sad. Madly.
Perhaps the solution lies in reconnecting with nature, which never runs out of raw aweness.
Thank you for your insightful analysis!

So getting a cat creates oxytocin, so on a neuronal level it helps against loneliness.
You know what I was always very socially awkward, my cat makes me less socially awkward because I'm far more relaxed inviting people over. I don't feel this 'must entertain and keep them happy vibe' anymore.

Practicing taking care of my mental health has truely saved my life. All through my 20’s I put in the work to practice, not consistently but in little manageable moments in times of need. This year my first born was still borne and I can honestly say that small mindfulness practices have helped me out of daily panic attacks and depressive spirals. Thank you for what you’re doing because it truly helps

I’ll read it big dawg but my problems are most existential. Interacting with the outside world seems like more of a burden than anything. Love your beauty and energy though - have a great rest of your summer! ☀️
