@niallharbisondogs: Jimmy was in a sorry state when we arrived after being hit by a truck. His mum had reached out on Facebook desperately looking for help. It was an emotional scene when we arrived and she warned Jimmy was in so much pain he would bite. The only way we could get him to the vet was sitting upright. An x ray showed serious damage to the spine. Much more worrying was he had absolutely no feeling in his paws. Sharp pincers pricking him didn’t even have a tiny reaction. He seemed totally paralyzed. There was a small amount of good news in that he wasn’t incontinent and there was no internal damage. On the car ride home I made peace with the fact Jimmy wouldn’t make it. There’s no way an old dog like that could come back from this. Difficult conversations would have to be had with his owner. But when we got him to the good news is Sybille said give him a bit of time to decompress and enjoy his meds. He was still in severe shock. I couldn’t believe my eyes the next day when his little legs started ever so slightly fluttering. He had feeling! As his mum came to visit his movement increased and today Sybille had him out doing exercises. Just to be very clear it’s only a small bit of hope. He still has a spinal issue. But we are talking to hospitals and it looks like an operation might be possible. Very tentatively and early talks. Jimmy is a dog who very much wants to live that is for sure. Actually his biggest issue is not his spine but missing humans. He cries out for company so we’ve had to make a little roster of people to sit with him which everybody is more than happy to do as Jimmy is a very good boy. He’s just confused and sore. 72 hours ago he had no hope. Now he has a chance. That’s all we can do for now. Let’s all keep 🤞🤞🤞 for another couple of good days. #dogs #dogsofinstagram #streetdog
