I told the nurses I was intolerant to needles and will pass out, all of a sudden my heart rate skyrockets then crashes and I pass out, the student nurse panicked and unplugged the monitor. I woke up to the nurse stating, “no matter how annoying the monitor is, you can’t just unplug it”

One time I was struggling to open a suppository, the patient said to me "ya they've been struggling with those" "I laughed and said ya they are a pain in the butt" I realized what I said almost immediately. Luckily he laughed and said "literally". I could have died right there from embarrassment 😂😂😂😂

I was doing medical screening and asking about medications, she said she takes mounjaro and she said how shes been feeling so much better and I said "yeah I can see why". Once I realised what I said i looked up in horror and explain thats NOT what I meant 😭

I had to work on the psych floor sometimes and in the room with a new patient (drawing blood) and I asked how it was going she started to explain how she was hearing noises and the sheets made her skin crawl, before I thought about it I said gosh, that would drive me crazy! She looked at me then looked around and just said yeah 🤦🏻♀️

I was a float to the Oncology floor. I was hanging some fluids in a patients room and the lady said “I love your hair!” And I said something how I hated how frizzy it always is…the lady proceeds to pull off her head scarf and said “at least you have hair.”…i was instantly so apologetic, but she was an amazing sport about it all and laughed and told me not to be sorry.

if you accidentally slip “this was my first X!” you can always save it with “…TODAY!!!” or “this week!” “…at this unit/ward! we rarely get to do these here nowadays since pts always get here with ones on:)” or “this was my first X after getting back on holiday!” and even if it was your first one ever you did unsupervised, you’re not lying by specifying that it was your first one for a shorter period of time 🙏🏻 then you wouldn’t have to go through that explanation that you’ve done those actually in school and during clinical placements etc with supervision many times before
