@calledtomarriage: "Daddy said..." If you've been a part of our online community there's a high chance you're familiar with those two words. 😊 I never asked Charlie to memorize these lessons. I simply taught them over and over again. This is the quiet power of intentional parenting. Children become the echo of what they hear consistently. Here are some of the lessons Charlie still remembers to this day: • Let your yes be yes, and your no be no. Integrity will take you further than your skill and talent. • Be kind, respectful, and helpful to others. God favors people who are kind, respectful, and helpful. • Work hard and be diligent to earn your own living. God loves a diligent man. • Sometimes in life we all fall down, but you must get back up and keep moving. • Everybody needs somebody, somewhere, somehow, sometime. • Wise men have dirty knees because they bow before Christ in prayer. • Always tell the truth. The truth will set you free. • Patience is needed for all good endeavors. It pays to be long-suffering. • Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. In all your getting, get understanding. • No one person has all the wisdom in the world. Stay humble. None of these lessons were taught in a single conversation. They were planted over hundreds of ordinary moments around the dinner table, during walks, in the car, at bedtime, while reading Scripture, and simply doing life together.
