Is this the standard of professionalism from insurance agents customers should expect nowadays? We came across a link offering a free consultation with AIA, together with a complimentary blood pressure monitor. Both my boyfriend and I signed up because we were genuinely interested in learning more about the insurance plans available. I received no follow-up, but my boyfriend was contacted by a male representative via message and phone call. A home appointment was then arranged for around 7pm after work. When the person arrived, however, it was a female agent. Let me be clear: the issue is not her gender. The issue is transparency, professional appearance, and behaviour. We were never informed that the person who contacted us would not be the one conducting the consultation. That was unexpected, but what made us even more uncomfortable was the agent’s attire and behaviour at our doorstep, which was captured by our doorbell camera. Her outfit appeared unusually revealing for a professional home consultation. More concerningly, the footage appeared to show her repeatedly tying and untying her cardigan and adjusting it around her chest. We were both shocked and uncomfortable witnessing this. I cannot claim to know her intentions, but I believe it is fair to question whether such behaviour is appropriate in a professional setting. Are you here to provide insurance advice, or are you creating an impression that could be perceived as suggestive? Insurance is a serious financial commitment. Customers deserve honest advice, clear information, and a professional environment in which to make informed decisions. They should never have to feel uncomfortable during a consultation in their own home. And this raises another important question: What if my boyfriend had been home alone? Would this same attire and behaviour be considered appropriate for a one-to-one client meeting? I have nothing against female insurance agents, and I respect the hard work that genuine professionals put into their careers. But professionalism should never be compromised, regardless of gender. If an agent is representing an established insurance brand, the way they present themselves and interact with potential clients reflects not only on themselves, but potentially on the company they represent. Sales should be earned through knowledge, integrity, and trust — not through behaviour that leaves customers questioning the purpose of the visit. I hope AIA will take this concern seriously, review the circumstances, and ensure that its representatives uphold appropriate professional standards. Customers sign up for insurance consultations to understand their options, not to be left feeling uncomfortable in their own homes. Professionalism is not just about closing a deal. It is about earning trust and respecting boundaries. #whatisthis #insurance #inappropiate #viraltiktok #fyp
