my grandma had 9 children and at the age of 102 she still calls her son (my dad) every night to say goodnight, there’s no ending to motherhood it’s forever 🩷

We need to normalize grieving the loss of our ability to reproduce. My youngest is 16 and I still get sad about not being able to have another child. I cry and mourn it. I honor the feelings and remind myself that I did get three.

Oh I get it. I’m 46 with 3 children and it was apart of my identity, being healthy and conceive and carrying healthy pregnancies. This huge chapter is closing and it does make me sad. It’s a bigger thing, it’s just the cycle of life and this one is finished. Feels final and I view life a bit different now❤️

I’m hitting that milestone in my life as well. Although, my daughters are in their 20’s. It sad to know I’ll never be able to carry another baby if I wanted.

Also, we are not empty. Nester‘s. There is a new term. It is called bird launchers. There is nothing empty here we launch those birds. We worked hard to prepare those bars for a flight and we launched them. They will return to the nest to visit. there’s nothing empty here we are bird launchers not empty nesters.

I went through this feeling for over 3 years and didn’t know how to put into words how strong that type of mourning felt for me. I am lucky to have my 2 week old little girl now and still am struggling with the pain of knowing these are the last firsts and lasts for some things for me and the only two children I will ever birth. Being a mother is hard in so many more ways than I could have ever imagined, and I think that is mostly because it is SO worth it.

I have a somewhat opposite but somehow similar feeling about my decision not to have children. I'm happy about my decision 99.9% of the time, but I still struggle with the thought of my childbearing years being over. It's a weird, weird grief. I call it the "Yes, but...." grief. Sounds like you're experiencing it too. 💕
